I am Tim, the creative behind Rough To Refined. I kept hearing diamond in the rough in my head. Since I am not working with diamonds, but wanted to use that idea for the name, I came up with Rough To Refined.

I was introduced to lapidary when I was living in Denver, Colorado. The first cabochon I cut was an opal and I made my first ring to set it in. I moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 2021 to have someone at home while my Mom is on the road doing van life. I have worked in her jewelry studio a bit, but decided to seriously give cutting cabochons a try. After taking a class at William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, I was hooked. I look forward to my stones out in the world and seeing what you make with them.
